Vickie Stephens Ansley retired in 2022 as the Dean of Health, Human, and Business Services at Haywood Community College. Prior to being the Dean and supervising 8 different curricula at the college, Vickie was the Program Manager and Instructor for the Early Childhood Education Department. She served as the Deputy Director of Programs and in other positions at Southwestern Child Development from 1995 until 2014. Her experience in early childhood includes working as a licensing consultant with NC DCDEE for 9 years, teaching in public schools, college instruction, providing on-site technical assistance, providing professional development activities, supervising the child care subsidy unit, both the regional and statewide child care resource and referral units, and the Jackson County Family Resource center. Additionally, on the state level, Vickie was a member of the NC Child Care Resource and Referral Council, former Board President of the NC Institute of Early Childhood Professionals, a member and chair of the TEACH and Wage$ board of directors, and a member of the NC Child Care Commission for 2 four-year terms. After retirement, Vickie was not yet ready to give up her connection to the early childhood field and took a part-time job with Buncombe Partnership for Children for a couple of years. Vickie lives in Candler, has 2 adult children, and 6 grandchildren.
